Karen Haire Walden
Matthews, GA – Karen Haire Walden, 67, loving wife of 49 years to Joe Barrow Walden, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The family will receive friends at Mt. Moriah Campground Tabernacle on Thursday beginning at 11:00 A.M. with services to follow at 1:00 P.M. If you wish to send a remembrance, the family request that you send contributions to Mt. Moriah Campground, Boy’s Dorm Fund, 5789 Hwy 88/ E, Matthews, GA 30818.
Karen and Joe ran Barrow & Prescott, Inc. and pastored Your Hope Church. For 30 years, she poured her heart into Mt. Moriah Camp, helping create an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can change lives. She loved every single child that attended camp and spent so much of her time and energy praying for and leading children to a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Karen is the mother of Jennifer and Timmy Chance, Laice and Chris Dickerson, Barrow and Amanda Walden, and Lee Newman. She is the grandmother of Nathan Chance, Rachel Chance, Blythe Rodgers, Luke Rodgers, Bethany Rodgers, Rebekah Chance, Caleb Newman, Christopher Dickerson, Jacob Newman, Lydia Newman, Aydan Dickerson, Bree Walden and Treb Walden; and great-grandmother to Ava Rae Neal. Left to miss her along with her husband and children are her sisters, Joyce Newsome, Brenda Thomas, Vickie Arrington, Reba Baggett, and Lynn Williams; many, many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Greeting Karen in Heaven are her parents, Hubert and Bertha Haire, and James and Nell Walden; her sisters, Linda Kaye Haire, Ina Haire, Barbara Haire Chandler, and Geraldine Haire Montgomery; her brothers, Hubert Haire Jr., Joe Haire Sr., Larry Haire Sr., and Gene Williams; and a baby grandchild.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Jones, Jake Kight, Jason Mathis, Josh McGahee, Thomas Newsome and Tripp Rooks. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the campers, past and present, of Mt. Moriah Camp.
Karen would want to say to everyone that reads this that her relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in her life. She would urge everyone of you to pursue or deepen your own relationship with Him and to be busy about doing as much as possible to teach others about Jesus.
