Wilma Elizabeth Phillips Mason
Blythe, GA – Wilma Elizabeth Phillips Mason, 67, loving wife to Paul H. Mason, entered into her eternal rest Saturday afternoon, April 15, 2017 at her residence. Celebration of life services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017 with Dr. James M. Ford officiating.
One of three children born to the late Mildred “Millie” Johnson Phillips and the late Mack “Buddy” Phillips, Wilma lived in the Wrens-Blythe area all of her life and attended Hephzibah High School. She was a homemaker, providing a safe, comfortable home for her family who was her top priority. Wilma enjoyed traveling, especially camping. She also liked to shop and browse at flea markets—always looking for a deal. Even though she enjoyed being around people, Wilma was a quiet, reserved and private person who needed her “alone” time, during which time she loved to read. She had an absolute, unconditional love for her family and was most content their presence. Her death leaves a void that no one can fill, but her love leaves memories that no one can steal.
Wilma was also preceded in death by her brother, Mack “Bo” Phillips. Other survivors include two children, Sonia Mize (Chris) and Paul W. Mason; a sister, Maxine Halford (Bucky); three grandchildren, C. J. Mize, Adam Mason and Hunter Mason; great granddaughter, Blakelynn Mize; special cousins, Jerry Evans and Sydney McGahee; her “little guardian”, Madison Person; and several nieces and nephews.
Respectfully, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Lydia Project, Breast Cancer Awareness, 1369 Interstate Parkway, Augusta, GA 30909.
Special thanks are extended to Susie, Tammy and Tonya, her Alliance Hospice nurses who showed her much loving kindness and compassion and helped make her last days comfortable.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017, prior to services.
