William Ronald “Ronnie” Peebles

Wrens, GA  –              William Ronald “Ronnie” Peebles, 63, entered into his eternal rest Saturday morning, November 4, 2017 at his residence. A Celebration of Life service will be held at James Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning, November 8, 2017.

Born to the late Lillian Lorene Cato Peebles and the late James Thomas Peebles, Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Wrens. After graduating from Wrens High School, he worked in the grocery industry—BiLo, IGA Wrens and Jet Food Store—for over 40 years until his retirement. His only real interest outside family and work was the Georgia Bulldogs:  he was an avid fan—GO DAWGS!! Ronnie didn’t meet a stranger and always had a ready smile for everyone. He had a heart for others and could always be counted on to help out in any way he could. His family was his life; playing with his grandkids, nieces and nephews thrilled his heart, while visiting with his girls and siblings gave him great comfort and peace. Ronnie’s life was full and he cherished much. His loving, gentle spirit will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kelli L. Gray (Patrick) of Aiken SC; eight siblings, Charles Peebles (Phyllis) of Millersville MD, James Peebles (Marilyn) of Gibson, Frances Miller, Patricia Templeton (Grady), Dorothy Wood (Joby) of Augusta, Jimmy Peebles (Peggy) of Thomson, Linda Boyd of Gibson, and Ginger Davis of Avera; four grandchildren, Jessica Gray, Gabrielle Gray, Courtney Mullins (Joshua) and Christopher Filyaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, November 7, 2017.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss—
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much—
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now—He set me free!
