William “Bill” Seth Perdue

Augusta, GA –            William “Bill” Seth Perdue, 88, loving husband to the late Ruby Louise McGahee Perdue, entered into his eternal rest Wednesday morning, July 14, 2021, at University Hospital.  Graveside services with military honors will be at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2021 with Rev. Ed Chance officiating.

Born to the late Willie Ethel Johnston Perdue and the late Seth Thomas Perdue, Bill grew up in Jefferson County and quit school at an early age to help on the family farm. At the age of 20, he joined the Marines, proudly serving our country in the Korean War. After returning  home from service, he married and moved to Augusta where he worked for Augusta Lumber Company and then for the City of Augusta Streets and Drains,  retiring after 40+ years of service in 1994. He had a passion for gardening and fishing. Having a quiet but happy-go-lucky, laid-back attitude, he was generous to whoever had a need he could fill. A true family man, Bill had an absolute, unwavering love for his family. He was so very thankful for the joy and pleasure of being with his family til the very end.

Bill was also preceded in death by his siblings, David Perdue and Vivian Lawton. Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Joann P. Blackwell (Lynn) and Bobby R. Perdue; two grandchildren, Joseph Johnson and Jonathan M. Johnson; and one great grandchild; Jezetta Johnson.
