William Gordon Bartlett, Sr.

Hephzibah, GA  – William Gordon Bartlett, Sr., 73, loving husband of 40 yrs to the late Louise Cowart Bartlett and fiancé of Martha K. Scott,  entered into rest Saturday evening, April 7, 2012 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Blythe Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Dendler officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Born to the late Savannah Beasley Bartlett and the late Thomas Benjamin Bartlett, Gordon was a lifelong resident of Burke County. He was a member of Blythe Baptist Church, a volunteer firefighter with the Oakridge Community station in Hephzibah, a member of the CSRA Mounted Sheriff’s Posse and an active member of the Republican Party. He owned and operated Gordon Bartlett Tile Co. and was a tile contractor for over 50 yrs.  Gordon loved music and recorded a country music album in Nashville TN.  He also loved horses and collecting bulls and guitars.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Gordon was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Louise Johnson; a brother, Dewey Bartlett; and two sisters, Pauline Bartlett and Hazel Gay. Survivors include his children, Pam Bartlett Lawrence (Billy), William Gordon Bartlett Jr. (Joy), Katherine Bartlett Johnson (Larry), Jacqueline Louise Bartlett, Jesse Franklin Bartlett (Sarah), and Savannah Dianne Bartlett McNorrill (Joe); a brother, Thomas Benjamin “T.B.” Bartlett; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren—Rebecca Bartlett Newsome (Bryan) and children Hunter Copeland and Logan Newsome; William Gordon “W.G.” Bartlett III and son, Reagan Graham; Mary K. Wiese (Jamie) and children Kaden, Kris and Preston; Angel Bartlett Parrish (Cody) and son, Ryker Kyle; Jessica Nicole Johnson and Josie “Toodles” McNorrill; many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Berry Arrington, David Bartlett, Johnny Wayne Bartlett, W.G. Bartlett III, Brett Chancey, Cliff Chancey Jr, Ken Chancey and Mark Chancey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Greg Coursey, George Deloach, and Larry Sconyers.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home this evening, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 6:00-8:00PM.
Because of the sudden and tragic circumstances of his death, the family requests memorial contributions be made to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens, GA 30833.
