Tony Ceborn Wren

Wrens, GA –               Tony Ceborn Wren, 80, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021 at University Hospital. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, October 23, 2021 with Reverend Chad Watkins officiating.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

The only son born to the late Annie Bell Faglier Wren and the late Ceborn Patterson “C.P.” Wren, Tony was a lifelong resident of Wrens.  Upon his graduation from Wrens High School in 1959, he joined his father in the family used car business. Tony was the dealer, operator and owner of Wren Chevrolet Inc. from 1965-2020, retiring after 55 years of operating the full sales and service GM dealership.  In his pastime, he did enjoy watching old western movies, Andy Griffith, and fishing but he lived to buy and sell cars.  A great-great nephew of William John Wren, founder of Wrens, Tony loved Wrens and was proud of his community, serving as a past member of Wrens Kiwanis Club.  He had a true love for the people of Wrens and was always there to encourage and support everyone to ensure their success. A people-person, Tony never met a stranger and loved to meet new people, always asking questions to learn about them and their family.  He was all about building relationships.   As a young boy, Tony committed his life to Jesus, serving Him as a member of Wrens United Methodist Church. He loved his family with an absolute, unwavering love and it was his grandchildren who stole his heart and gave him great joy.  Tony was most content in his home surrounded by his family.  This icon of our community will be greatly missed—he was truly one of a kind.

Tony is survived by his wife, Ruth Templeton Wren, the love of his life for 57 years. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister. Others left to cherish his memories include his children, Jan Wren Best (Guy) and Tony “Pat” Wren Jr.; five grandchildren, Guy Watkins Best Jr., John Wren Best, McKenzie Hartwell Best, Tony C. Wren III (Kaylee) and Charles Patterson Wren; one great grandson, Tony “Reid” Wren IV; sister, Gail Wren Arrington (Bud); other extended family, and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons—Guy, John, Tony and Charles—as well as Luther Hannah and Arty Thrift.
