Timothy Andrew Bassett, affectionately known to his family as "Bubba," passed away on November 5, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. To celebrate his life, graveside services will be held at 1:00PM Friday, November 10, 2023 in the Wrens Memorial Gardens.
Born on October 27, 1971, in Millen, Tim grew up in Wrens and attended Wrens High School. Timothy's presence in this world was marked by his strong will, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others. His love for his family knew no bounds.
When his health allowed, Tim was a factory worker at Glit in Wrens and Bellcrest Mobile Homes in Millen. He demonstrated resilience and an unwavering work ethic and, despite his health challenges, he persevered.
One of his fondest memories was fishing with his granddaddy. These moments made an indelible impression on him and stated that he “couldn’t wait to get to Heaven to fish with Granddaddy again”.
Tim was an ardent NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt standing tall as his favorite driver. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan—GO DAWGS!! Come rain or shine, nothing could deter him from tuning in to watch “the race” or the DAWGS. His enthusiasm and dedication were unmatched. Tim was also a fan of wrestling—he even got a replica of the WWE Wrestling belt. This was among his prized possessions, along with other memorabilia which boasted treasures such as baseball bobbleheads, Hess trucks, and anything related to NASCAR, Earnhardt and the DAWGS.
Even though he was strong-willed and independent, Tim had a compassionate side and tried to help everyone he could in their time of need. Above all else, family meant everything to him. His love for them radiated from him with every interaction.
Having suffered his entire life with cystic fibrosis and going through the devastation of cancer the last few months of his life, Tim is now pain-free with a new body and is enjoying his eternal life in Heaven.
Timothy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Emily Bragg Lambert and Jinks Burke. Left behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Gearldeen Burke; his sisters, Teresa Irby (Jeff) and Becky Mangrum (Lance); nieces and nephews, Emily Irby (Isao), Justin Wall (Tiffany), Jeremy Bennett (Cassedy) and Kali Christian (Tucker); great nieces, Lily, Kayos, Audrey and Charlotte; a special aunt, Bernice Bragg; other extended family and many friends.
Tim’s last request was that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by clicking on the link below.
