Stella Mae Presley Barker, born on September 18, 1942, in Spencer Curve, West Virginia, peacefully transitioned into her eternity Monday evening, April 21, 2025, at Piedmont Summerville in Augusta.
Stella was a loving and devoted homemaker, who dedicated her life to ensuring her family had a clean home and provided them a safe haven. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her household, as she worked as a cook for the Foster Camp for Children, fostering a sense of community and care for those around her. In 1978, she relocated to Louisville to be closer to her beloved sister and brother, where she began a fulfilling career at Jefferson Hospital, retiring in 1994 as a dietician.
Stella was known for her strong and independent nature, complemented by an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. A true nurturer, she welcomed strangers into her home, feeding every child in need who flocked to her door. She was affectionately known as a mom to many, providing comfort, warmth, and sustenance to all who crossed her path. Stella's unwavering faith sustained her throughout her life, as she cherished the beauty of old hymns and built a community of lifelong friends.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. Stella is survived by her children: Jeff Presley, Judy Barker, Thomas Barker, Billy Barker, Cindy Welch (Chris), and Missy Rupp (Casey). She leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Stella is also remembered by her three siblings, Tommy Presley, Linda Wyatt (Dennis), and Judy Reynolds, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Barker Sr., her daughter, Cindy Lee Barker, her parents, Victoria Louetta Presley and Crocket Presley, and her siblings, Eddie Presley, Edna Butler, Clarence Presley, Sally Overbaugh, Mildred Walk, Ralph Presley and Martha Presley.
Pastor Jason Burton will officiate the Celebration of Life Service to be held in the Wrens Church of God on Monday, April 28th at 12:00 P.M. The family will receive guests and friends from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. following the service at 106 Ramsgate Drive, Wrens GA 30833. .
Stella’s remarkable spirit and profound love for her family and community will be cherished and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
