Shirley Ann Feutral James

June 6, 1937 — December 9, 2024

Augusta, GA

Shirley Ann Feutral James, 87, a beloved matriarch and vibrant spirit, peacefully transitioned into her eternity at her residence on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Born on June 6, 1937, in Wrens, she grew up within a close-knit community, fostering cherished memories that would remain with her throughout her life. Shirley attended Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, where her deep-rooted values and love for family were nurtured.

After completing high school, Shirley embarked on a career that took her through several local companies in Augusta before finding a fulfilling position as a secretary for Waste Management. It was there that fate intervened, allowing her to reconnect with a long-ago friend from Mt. Horeb. Their rekindled romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage in 1987, after which Shirley dedicated her life to caring for their children and nurturing a loving home, transforming it into a safe haven for her family.

Shirley was known for her fun-loving personality, mental strength, and an unwaveringly positive outlook on life. She had an extraordinary ability to see the best in people and enjoyed life to its fullest, always greeted with her beautiful smile. Among her many hobbies, Shirley found immense joy in working in her yard, particularly tending to her vibrant flower garden filled with roses of every color. Her green thumb was complemented by her artistic flair; she and her husband created and sold crafts together, showcasing their talents at 56 Market and in Savannah. Her husband always felt blessed to have “the perfect wife”.

Together, they enjoyed adventures which included road trips in their RV and rides on their Harley. Shirley shared a special bond with her dogs and found solace in music of all genres that soothed her soul.

Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Tony Lee James; children, Dennis Sidener (Jamie), Lee Sidener (Tina), and T.J. James (Paula); grandchildren, Gracie Sidener, Presley Sidener, Johnathan Sidener (Morgan), Kayla Sidener, Josilyn James, and Haley James; as well as two cherished great-grandchildren, Madelyn Sidener and Nora Sidener. She is also survived by her sisters, Elaine Andrews (Charles) and Linda Feutral; along with nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
