Shirley Ann Mungo Brown

Avera, GA  –               Shirley Ann Mungo Brown, 74, loving wife of 54 years to Edward Eugene “Gene” Brown, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, August 4, 2018 with Pastor Bryan Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The eldest of four children born to the late Anne Grace Taylor Mungo and Bruce Gay Mungo Sr., Shirley was a native of Kingstree SC. As a young girl, her family lived in several cities in Georgia, including Albany, Atlanta and Augusta, where she met and married the love of her life, and then made Avera their home for the last 52 years. Shirley retired as Assistant to the Superintendent from the Jefferson County Board of Education. She loved and served, Jesus, her Lord and Savior with a strong faith and commitment to His word.  Her unconditional love and devotion to her family was paramount.

Shirley is also preceded in death by her brother, Bruce G. “Bobo” Mungo Jr. Other survivors include her daughter, Angela Brown Walden (Andy); two grandsons, Adam Andrew Walden and Evan Paul Walden; two sisters, Deborah Mungo Huddleston (Paul) of Kershaw SC, and Lisa Mungo Munn (Mike) of Liberty Hill SC; nieces, nephews and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, August 4, 2018, prior to the funeral service.
