Shari Lynn Carroll Newsome
Gibson, GA – Shari Lynn Carroll Newsome, 55, loving wife of 28 years to Lanurd “Chico” Aaron Newsome, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Wednesday morning, August 17, 2022 at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday morning, August 22, 2022 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chad Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Avera.
Shari was one of three children born to the late Carolyn Holton. Sher grew up in the Martinez/Augusta area and graduated from Evans High School. After obtaining her Cosmetology degree from Augusta Tech, she worked as a hair stylist at Augusta Mall and other locations in Augusta. She then worked as a receptionist for Dr. Burgamy before meeting the love of her life and moving to “the country” in 1987. Marrying and starting a family in 1994, she worked at various jobs in the surrounding area but her main focus was on her family and being a wife and mother. In 2005, she was diagnosed with Cushing disease and had a tumor on the pituitary gland surgically removed. From that time on, Shari was disabled and endured many serious health issues. Shari loved flowers, working in her flower garden and being outside. In later years, she would spend her afternoons watching her favorite soap operas. A people person, she enjoyed meeting people and talking/visiting with new and old friends alike. Shari was a happy person with a positive outlook on life and her desire was for everyone to be happy and content. She had a love for animals—her canine buddy, Nina, gave her great comfort. Her love for her family was absolute and unconditional—her granddaughter, Ansley, stole her heart and gave her great joy. Shari had a relationship with Jesus and her faith sustained her throughout all of life’s trials. She now has a new body—one that is pain-free and without limitations. Even though the void left by her passing cannot be filled, her memory lives on forever.
Shari is also preceded in death by her brother, Brian Poole. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Paige Gray (Hunter); granddaughter, Ansley Gray; brother, Alan Poole (Judy); sister-in-law, Dawn Poole; nieces and nephews, Matthew Poole (Katelynn), Brian Poole Jr., Rachel Poole, Hannah Altman, Matthew Poole Jr. and Blakeleigh North; her best friend, Shirley Haywood; aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family, and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Harper, Henry Clay Holton Jr., Wayne Holton, Rick Keister, Ronnie Knappenberger, Mike Lyons, Lansin Newsome and Richard Rhoden.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday evening, August 21, 2022.
