Shannon Renee Johnson

Wrens, GA –               Shannon Renee Johnson, 49, loving daughter of Dianne Williams Johnson and Max Lewis Johnson, entered into her eternal rest Thursday morning, July 15, 2021 at her residence. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, July 23, 2021, with Chaplain Mike Sides officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, July 22, 2021.

Living in Wrens all of her life, Shannon was a 1993 graduate of Wrens High School. After graduation, she worked at the Wrens United Methodist Church Pre-K and attended Jefferson County Training Center for many years.  Shannon loved all arts and crafts, especially adult coloring books.  For the last 25+ years, she attended Camp Joy in Flat Rock NC where she enjoyed Bible Study, riding horses, zip-lining, drama, swimming, the gym, the vast array of arts and crafts, the dances, singing in the talent shows—she introduced the song Angels Among Us to the camp—among other exciting activities. She loved music, especially Christian, country and Disney.  Having been born with special needs, Shannon was very loving, compassionate and a little timid until she got to know you.  Riding around in her hot pink golf cart, she was an icon of the community.  She brought much joy to her family and friends.  The void left by her passing will never be filled, but her memories will forever remain in our hearts.

Shannon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ammi Lou and Lester Johnson, and Earlene and Ollie Williams; niece, Sarah Johnson; an aunt, Ruby Hillman; and uncle, Ben Johnson. Others left to cherish her memories include her brother, William Johnson (Amanda); nephew, Zachary Johnson; aunts and uncle, Annette Hyatt, and Dale and Emory Clements; cousins, Arlene King (Henry), Milton Anderson, Kevin Hillman (Jen), Lisa McDonald (Greg), and Gregg Clements; other extended family, church family and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon Burke, Greg Clements, Wayne Davis, David Hastings, Kevin Hillman, Henry King, Bobby Smith and Keith Usry.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Camp Joy NC, 918 S. Pleasantburg Dr, Greenville SC 29607 or online at www.campjoycem.com.
