Robert T Snellings
Blythe, GA – Robert T Snellings, 79, loving husband to the late Eva Mae Snellings, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, November 1, 2018 at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2018 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Josh Caines officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, November 9, 2018 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta.
Robert was born to the late Annie Beth and Paul Snellings in Oglethorpe County. He worked at Club Car before having to quit his job to take care of his ailing wife, the love of his life. He and his wife lived in Glascock County before moving to Dearing. After the passing of his beloved wife and his own failing health, he moved to Blythe to be closer to family, after which he became a resident of Keysville Nursing Home. Being a true southern farm boy, he loved everything about farming and livestock. Robert had a huge garden and kept pigs, chickens, horses and other animals—he just enjoyed being at home taking care of his garden and animals. He enjoyed watching western shows and movies, Animal Kingdom, and various shows that highlighted different animals in different parts of the world. A comedian at heart, Robert was always joking and making people laugh. His strong-willed, fierce determination brought him through many struggles in life. A loyal and generous person, he tried to help others in anyway he could, sometimes to his detriment when they took advantage of him and his generosity. Let it be known that Robert loved and was loved.
Robert is also preceded in death by his siblings, Brenda Rogers, Lewis Odum, Frank Snellings, Roy Snellings, Charles Snellings and Betty Claxton. Survivors include his siblings, Lamar Snellings and Shirley Darsey; special nieces, Jessica N. Odum, Gail White and Angie Tanner; special nephews, Jacob Odum and Williams Rogers; nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home after the services Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2018.
