Randolph “Scott” Hunley
Wrens, GA – Randolph “Scott” Hunley, 62, loving father, son, and brother, entered into his eternal rest Saturday night, February 10, 2018 while in Savannah. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, February 15, 2018 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Chad Watkins and Mike Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
One of four children born to June Davis Hunley and Audrey Hunley, Scott was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, graduating from Wrens High School in 1973 where he showed his athletic prowess on the football team. After graduation, he worked for Huber for 13 years, after which he owned and operated a camouflage and sport apparel business and was co-owner of H&R Trucking for 15 years. He then worked for FedEx and Horizon Roofing before finally landing at Piedmont, formerly Team Excavating—a job he loved. Scott was a hard worker, and could do most anything. In his spare time, he loved to golf and go fishing, but found great satisfaction in being a coach for the Wrens Dixie Youth Baseball. Scott was absolutely the most avid Georgia Bulldog fan—his blood ran ‘Dawg red! He also enjoyed travelling, especially going to the mountains and Savannah. A music lover, he was always listening to music—real music like the Doobie Brothers,The Doors, Otis Redding. A gregarious, fun-loving person, people were naturally and automatically drawn to Scott—a stranger was just a friend he had not yet met. Fiercely loyal, he was generous and would help others in any way he could—he had a tender-spot for those less fortunate. Most of all, Scott was a family man—his parents were his world, his brothers and sister were his rock, and his sons and grandchildren were his life. Scott’s sudden, untimely death has left a huge void that no one can fill, but his love has left many loving memories that no one can steal.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Olivia Hunley. Other survivors include his two sons, Ryan Hunley (Dana) of Oxford and Aron Hunley (Laura) of Monroe; three siblings, Rex Hunley, James Hunley and Karen H. Wheeler (Dennis); five grandchildren, Russell Hunley, Olivia Hunley, Colin Hunley, Taylor Hunley and Jessica Hunley; nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Lex Howard, Jacob Hunley, Greg Lewis, Wylie Prescott, Raymond Prickett, John Russell, Scott Smith and Wayne Yost.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, February 14, 2018.
