Pinchy Prescott
Matthews, GA – Pinchy Prescott 67, loving husband of 44 years to Sharon “Lynn” Taylor Prescott, entered into his eternal rest Thursday evening, July 4, 2019, at Doctors Hospital. Services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 P.M. Monday evening, July 8, 2019 with Reverend Ed Chance officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
One of three children born to the late Ruby “Hazel” Newsome Prescott and the late Millard Allen Prescott, Pinchy was a life long resident of Matthews. He attended Matthews School and Wrens High School before working in the logging business with Bob Phillips and then his dad. He then worked for C.T. Harris before going to work for Wayne Smith Logging as a loader operator. Pinchy was always busy, had knowledge of a lot of things and was thereby known as a “great supervisor”. Like all “country boys”, Pinchy was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. His other passion was riding his Harley wannbes. Described as a gentle giant, he had a quick temper with a short fuse, was generous in spirit, was steady as a rock, and was a loyal friend who could be counted on no matter what the need or occasion. A quiet, simple man with simple dreams and aspirations, Pinchy’s main focus was his family. He and Lynn were the love of each other’s lives and were best friends. A devoted father, he gave his heart unconditionally to his children and his grandchildren completed his life with joy he had never known. Pinchy was a happy, content man. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Pinchy was also preceded in death by his sister, Terrie Coxville; and his brother, Kenny Prescott. Other survivors include his children, Preston A. Prescott (Debra) and Krystle Spivey; seven grandchildren, Canyon Spivey, Graci Prescott, Karley Prescott, Olivia Spivey, Hailey Prescott, Allie Spivey and Katie Prescott; nephews, Ryan Coxville and Chad Coxville; son-in-law, Joseph Spivey; cousins, and many friends.
