Phyllis Mae Shadle

Phyllis Shadle, wife of Bryan Shadle, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, at University Hospital in Augusta. The visitation and funeral service will be held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday November 27, 2021. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM and the service at 2 PM. Ministers will be Connor Turpin and Janet Wilson.

Phyllis was born in Sisseton, SD to Harold and Romona (Blue) Begay. At a young age Phyllis was adopted by LeRoy and Helen (Bullick) Anderson and grew up in MN. She lived for some years in Indiana during a previous marriage. Her children from that marriage are Jessica (Hilligoss) Smith and Nathan Hilligoss.

Phyllis married Bryan on April 10, 2001, and moved to Cumming, GA. She worked as an administrative assistant in law firms. Phyllis and Bryan have one daughter, Victoria "Tori" Bryanne.

Phyllis loved her children and grandchildren, her daughter’s children. She made many trips to Indiana to spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She was a compassionate wife and mother, outstanding employee, good daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend. Phyllis was courteous to everyone and had an infectious laugh.

The focus of Phyllis’s life was her faith in God. She loved attending the fellowship meetings on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. The annual convention was a very special time of year for Phyllis. Her faith guided her decisions and gave her a sure hope of eternal life.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her biological parents, Henry and Romona Begay; adoptive parents, LeRoy and Helen Anderson; sisters Jane Larson and Dinah Smith; brother Elroy Anderson; and father-in-law Dave Shadle.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bryan, of Wrens, GA; daughter, Victoria "Tori" Bryanne Shadle, daughter, Jessica (Riley) Smith, and grandchildren, Kyleigh, Ashton, Hannah, and Brooklyn Turner, of Indianapolis, IN; son, Nathan Hilligoss, of Cumming, GA; brother, Tim Blue, of Granite Falls, MN; sisters, Carol Kavaldski, of South St. Paul, MN and Tiffany Anderson, of Coon Rapids, MN; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the nurses and doctors at University Hospital in Augusta. They would like to express their appreciation for all the kindness, love, and prayers by friends and family during this difficult time.

Pall bearers are Tom Shadle. Philip Shadle, Leslie Turpin, Shane Holt, Brandon Anderson, Cecil Wise, and Charles Shadle.
