Patricia Marie Marsh Penrow

Wrens, GA  – Patricia Marie Marsh Penrow., 51, went home to be with her Lord Thursday morning, January 16, 2014 while staying at her daughter’s in Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Thursday, January 23, 2014 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony L. Key and Dr. Doug Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

One of three children born to Doris Howard Marsh and William Luther “Bill” Marsh, Patti grew up in Wrens and was a member of Swainsboro Church of the Nazarene and a past member of Woodland Baptist Church. She had lived in Florida, South Carolina and had recently moved back to Wrens. She enjoyed reading—especially the Bible and mystery novels, particularly Nancy Drew, watching investigative TV (Perry Mason being a favorite), listening to music (old-time gospel, The Beatles and her favorite song by Kansas "Dust In The Wind"), shopping, being outside in nature which always seemed to soothe her soul, and writing every day in her journal—a great treasure that now provides much solace.  Being very smart with a great sense of humor, Patti had a great love for people and put others’ needs before her own—she had a servant heart and shared the gospel at every given opportunity.  She was involved in a church ministry at Old Capitol Inn Nursing Home in Louisville where she was devoted to the patients, as they were to her. She loved her family and put her kids first, doing her best with what she had, persevering through many hardships, being always appreciative of every blessing, and always finding the positive even in the worse of circumstances. Above all, she loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior, trusting Him and His promises—her favorite verses being John 3:16 and John 14: 27b... “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” She is now basking in His glory in her eternal home.

Other survivors include her husband, Freddie E. Penrow; her three children, Russell Bice (Ally) of Lakeland FL, Stacy Nelson (Steve) of Fort Hood TX, and Sherrie Olage (Chris) of Fort Worth TX; two siblings, Robert Marsh of Lakeland FL, and Debra Harnage (Jimmy) of Lakeland FL; nine grandchildren, Savannah Bice, Randall Nelson, Kimberly Nelson, Alexandrea Nelson, Jonathon Nelson, Adrian Nelson, Madison Ramino, Justin Nelson and Elijah Olage; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Pallbearers will be Clay Marsh, Jeff Marsh, Jimmy Marsh, Steve Norton, Wayne Scott and Henry Thompson.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:001PM on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2014.

Because of the unexpected nature of this loss, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to be made to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens GA  30833.

Should I Go Before You
(A poem by Patricia Marsh Written October 28, 2013 to Her Parents)

Tell mother I will be there
In that city that lies four-square.
With my Savior I'll be—
The One who gave His life for me.
Around the golden throne,
We will sing praises yet unknown.
What a joy and peace to know you'll meet me there.

Tell mother and daddy both,
With a huge band of hosts,
They'll sing the songs so fair,
Voices which lift high in the air,
Arm in arm they will be
Around the beautiful sea.
Hold on Mom and Dad awhile—
You will want to meet me there.

I'll pick flowers just for you
To give when you walk through.
No more trials, no more tears—
Everything is joy and peace here,
leaving behind that earthly fear.

Walking with Jesus you will be near,
And that family gathered at His feet.
So hold on Mom and Dad,
I will be waiting for you up here,
It's just a short wait
And then we will meet at the Pearly Gates.
I'm with the Lord so dear,
No more pain or death up here
And I'm waiting, waiting for you.
