Patricia Ann Porter Geisik
Wrens, GA – Patricia Ann Porter Geisik, 77, loving wife of 60 years to Carl Geisik, Sr., entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, July 7, 2016 at her residence in Wrens GA. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning, July 13, 2016 in the Geisik family plot at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rockaway, New Jersey with Reverend Carl Geisik officiating.
One of five children born to the late Ann Rose Mask Porter and the late Ernest Arthur Porter, Pat was born, reared, married and bore her children in Deville NJ, leaving in 1973 because of her husband’s job opportunities to live in New Mexico, where they lived for three years before relocating to Georgia. In the 80’s, her husband answered God’s call and went into ministry, travelling and living in various states before finally moving back to Georgia in 2012. In New Mexico, Pat began a successful welcoming service business which she loved. She was always very studious and did all the research and typing for her husband while he was in seminary—she often teased that she had a PHT (“Put Hubby Thru”) degree. Pat was also instrumental in helping him prepare for his Sunday sermons. Loving her Lord and Savior, this was more of an honor rather than a chore. Having a reserved, unassuming nature, she was a cheerful, caring, and giving person. In her younger years, she loved to swim and always found joy and solace on the shore—or, as we in the south say, at the beach. She had a great love for her family, especially her grandchildren, and was happiest in their presence. In the 90’s she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and then suffered with Alzheimer’s for the last few years—she faced these physical and mental frailties with the grace bestowed on her by Jesus. Pat is suffering no more and is basking in God’s glory in Heaven.
Other survivors include her children, Carl Geisik Jr. (Paula) of Los Almos NM, Rayanne Roberts of Wadley GA and Roxanne Hanna (Jay) of Rock Hill SC; four siblings, Ernest Porter (Jan), Jean Porter, Roberta Longenecker (John), and Robert Porter (Jackie); six grandchildren, James Nairn (Kristina), Nicole Melton (Jason) Ashley Smith (Zack), Catherine Chappell (Rodney), Steven Geisik (Ellen) and Paul Geisik; nine great grandchildren, Robert Nairn, Michael Nairn, Autumn Nairn, Austin Nairn, Ambria Nairrn Grenfell Geisik, Barry Geisik, Sydney Melton and Liam Melton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to The Parkinson Foundation, CSRA Parkinson Support Group, 2406 Seminole Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home in Wrens from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday evening, July 10, 2016; and in New Jersey at Norman Dean Home for Services from 7:00-9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, July 12, 2016.
