Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.
One of four children born to the late Myrtis Williams Clark and the late Ed L. Clark, Norma grew up in Avera. She met the love of her life as a teenaged girl—she was inexplicably drawn to this blue-eyed Elvis-look-alike—and, after graduating high school, married him and moved to Stapleton where they raised their family. Norma devoted her life to being a homemaker, providing a loving, comfortable safe-haven for her family. Loving to sew, she did work at Stapleton Garment for a short while. A great cook, she loved preparing family meals. Having baked a red velvet cake was a prerequisite for the Prescott family reunions. She was also heavily involved in having a local cook book published in which she shared many of her recipes. Norma has been described as being a “girly girl”, enjoying shopping and dressing in her best. Many days, she could be found working in her yards or her vegetable garden—she loved butterflies and flowers, which was often reflected in the designs on her clothes. Norma had a soft-spoken, loving heart for people and greeted everyone with her big smile and a hug—she gave great hugs. Her first priority and love was her family who brought her great joy. Norma joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as a young girl after accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior. No longer suffering, she has joined her beloved husband and son in their eternal home in Heaven.
Norma also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Prescott; and brother, Libon Clark. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, George E. Prescott Jr. (Elaine) and Clay Prescott; daughter-in-law, Leighanne Prescott; six grandchildren, Justin Prescott (Nicole), Courtney Prescott, Jayna Prescott, Taylor Prescott, Kristie Sammons and A.J. Sammons (Dana); ten great grandchildren, Madison Prescott, Haley Prescott, Gage McKinnie, Kassidy Hayes, Cheyanne Hayes, Waylon Hayes, Hunter Sammons, Addie Sammons, Sadie Sammons and Ethan Sammons; two sisters, Yvonne McGraw (Larry) and Debra Newsome (Nathaniel); nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Clark, Russell Clark, Larry McGraw, Nathaniel Newsome, Kip Prescott and Dean Tyner.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, January 17, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 55, Avera GA 30803.
