Nellie Faye McNair Prescott, 85, loving wife of the late Eugene “Gene” Talmadge Prescott, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Thursday night, January 12, 2023, at Piedmont Hospital. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2023, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sean Heggood officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Born to the late Elizabeth Weatherford McNair and the late James “Ellis” McNair, Nellie Faye was a lifelong resident of Wrens. After graduating from Wrens High School in 1955, she married her high school sweetheart in December of the same year. Nellie Faye worked as a bookkeeper for Smith Sheppard Concrete Company and then for First State Bank, retiring January 28, 2000. In her pastime, she loved to read and travel. Having a love for others, she was a caregiver for several of her family members. Nellie Faye also had a soft spot for animals and could not stand to see any animal suffer and was known to feed any and all animals that came to her door. It has been said that she was out-spoken in a quiet, loving manner. Having developed a love of sports, she loved to watch the DAWGS and Falcons during football season and the Braves during baseball season. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and making sure her husband and children were well-fed and had a clean, loving home. She was a hard worker and a devoted loving wife and mother. Her love for her family was beyond words and cherished every moment spent with them. Above all else, Nellie Faye loved her Lord and Savior. Accepting God’s free gift of salvation at a young age, she served Him at Wrens Baptist Church where she taught the 4-5 year-old Sunday School class for 20+ years, as well as served on various church committees. We now stand firm in the promise that she is now in her eternal home in Heaven, experiencing His perfect, pure love that is too great for us to comprehend.
Nellie Faye is also preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Prescott. Those left to cherish her memories include her two children, Robbie Prescott (Jane) and Debbie Norton (Jeff); three grandchildren, Ashley Wheeler (J.D.), Corey Norton (Erin) and Matthew Norton (Erin); two great grandchildren, Claire Wheeler and Caroline Norton; a cousin, Glenda Miller-Cochrane; church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Norton, Corey Norton, J.D. Wheeler, Jeff Gay, Greg McDonald and Charles Milburn.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, January 16, 2023.
