Michael Lanier Huff
Matthews, GA – Michael Lanier Huff, 57, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, January 21, 2016 at his residence. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00PM Sunday, January 24, 2016 with Rev. Brian LaFavor officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
One of six children born to the late Mary Frances Thompson Huff and the late Shelton Eugene Huff, Sr., Mike was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County where he attended Wrens High School. An ironworker and carpenter by trade, he worked hard and he played hard. His favorite pastimes were shooting pool, hunting and fishing. Having a generous spirit, Mike was always willing to help anyone any way he could. A people-person, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. Mike was known for his big smile and great sense of humor—there was never a dull moment when Mike was around. His greatest pleasure was being with family and friends who he loved very much. His death leaves a void that no one can fill, but his love leaves memories that no one can steal.
Mike is also preceded in death by his brother, Shelton E. Huff, Jr. Survivors include his two children, Michael L. Huff II of Stapleton and Tangie Huff Dunn (Jason) of Winder; four siblings, Donna Huff Hooks (Chris), Andy Huff, Sheila Huff Scarber (Wayne) and Tammy Huff Barbour (Kevin); four grandsons, Lucas Dunn, Samuel Dunn, David Dunn and Noah Dunn; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens, GA 30833.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:30-3:00PM prior to the services Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2016.
