Michael Joseph Ballard

Michael J. Ballard, age 75, entered his eternal rest at his residence in Stapleton on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.  He leaves behind his sister, Judy Matens, and her spouse Anthony, and other family and friends.  His mother, father, brother Mark, grandparents, and many aunts and uncle preceded him in death.  Mike had friends who helped him tremendously during his life and he spoke so highly of them and appreciated their help.  He tried to be there for them when needed.  They always seemed to be there for Mike.

Mike was a good brother and brother-in-law.  He was always willing to help others, and he especially loved the pets that he had over the years.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there most of his life.  He served in the Armed Forces and spent time in Germany during his service.  Mike spent decades taking care of his parents, Chuck and Lucille Ballard, and cared for them until their deaths at age 97 and 101, respectively, never wanting them to spend any time in a nursing facility.  Mike never got over missing them.  He longed for the day to see them again.

Mike was a Christian who loved his Lord, and spoke of God often to his family and friends.  He was constantly searching for "God's will" for his life. 

Mike was a free spirit and had a mind of his own.  He was always trying to figure things out and do what he thought was right.  He had a photographic memory and could remember the small details of his childhood, his school days, and whatever he read or heard. 

He is now with his Lord, his deceased mother and father, brother, and other relatives.  We who survive will miss him dearly, but know he is where he longed to be.

Mike loved all God's creatures.  Memorials can be made in his name to any animal shelter of your choice.
