Mary Frances Young Kitchens
Wrens, GA – Mary Frances Young Kitchens, 76, loving wife of 58 years to Julian Albert Kitchens, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Augusta Piedmont Heart & Vascular Institute. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning, June 18, 2022 with the Reverends John Jenkins and Mason Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Born to the late Macy Lee Howard Young and the late Roy Lee Young, Mary Frances was a lifelong resident of Wrens and attended Wrens High School. On March 19, 1959, at the age of 13, she accepted God’s free gift of salvation through His son, Jesus, and joined the fellowship at Wrens Baptist Church, faithfully serving Him until her health decline. Mary Frances had a great love for children: her ministry was working in the nursery for many years at Wrens Baptist as well as baby sitting and keeping children in her home. She was known to be a shopaholic—she could shop all day!—and a “vacay” girl—she loved travelling and going on vacations, especially to Pigeon Forge TN. She also went to every gospel sing in the surrounding area and, unless she was shopping, she was watching her soap operas every weekday afternoon. She was considered to be very outspoken, determined and independent. She knew her mind and who she was and could not be swayed differently. Described as “the heart and soul of the family”, Mary Frances had an absolute, unconditional love for her family, was always her first priority, and was most content in their presence. Mary Frances has completed her journey on Earth and now, with a new, pain-free body, is forever worshipping her Lord and Savior.
Mary Frances was also preceded in death by her brother, Fate Young. Others left to cherish her memories include her sons, Christopher A. Kitchens (AnnaMarie) and Michael T. Kitchens (Heather); three grandchildren, Brittany Feagins (Clay), Brianna Ray (Aaron) and Campbell Kitchens; one great grandson, Daniel Ray; church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Allen, Campbell Kitchens, Donald Kitchens, James Kitchens Jr., Johnny Kitchens, Marion “BoBo” Massey, James “Buddy” Randolph, Aaron Ray, Ron Sellers and Stanley Sellers.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Wrens Baptist Church, PO Box 217, Wrens GA 30833.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, June 17, 2022.
