One of nine children born to the late Berta Alice Hadden Brooks and the late John Wesley Brooks, Marie was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She married and had two children, working as a seamstress in the garment industry, at the Dairy Queen in Wrens until it closed and then, later in life, as a care giver for Ms. Ruth Adams, who she loved dearly. She enjoyed traveling, camping, working in her flowers and her vegetable garden. Having an outgoing personality, she loved meeting and talking with people and had a true love and concern for everyone she met. A devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she faithfully served Him as an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. A devoted mother and loving her family unconditionally, Marie was happiest and most content in their presence. Having made her journey to her Heavenly home, Marie is now reaping her rewards, worshipping Him and singing praises.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Bobbie Williams, Oak Street, Avera GA 30803.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00P.M. Friday, December 11, 2015.
