Margaret “Gayle” Gibbons Swan
Margaret “Gayle” Gibbons Swan, 71, loving wife of 47 years to the late Robert “Bob” Lynn Swan, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Funeral services will be held in the Wrens Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 3:00PM with Reverends John A. Jenkins, Scott Pope and J. Scott McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
The eldest of four children born to the late Margaret Steadham Gibbons and the late Fred L. Gibbons, Gayle grew up in Donaldsonville, moving to Wrens after meeting and marrying the love of her life. She faithfully and actively served her Lord not only as a member of Wrens Baptist Church, but serving as the Church Secretary since 1971, as well as teaching many different Sunday School classes and serving in too many other capacities to name. She loved and served the Lord with her “whole being”—her greatest desire was to be “a tool” for God’s Kingdom. She touched so many peoples’ lives and because of her, many came to know Jesus. She never judged and always saw the good in people, ignoring any negative. Never a gossip, she could be trusted to keep confidences. It has been said that she was the glue that held it all together. Gayle Swan was REAL—the same Gayle to everyone, day in and day out. Gayle loved to read her Bible nightly and study the Word. She also enjoyed writing—her memoirs are a precious gift to her children. Honest, dedicated, loyal, loving, humble servant, great sense of humor….all these descriptions are inadequate to truly reflect her essence. Her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally. This lady of faith will be greatly missed by everyone who had the great privilege to meet her.
Gayle is also preceded in death by her brother, Chris Gibbons. Survivors include her children, Robert Lynn Swan, Jr. (Laura), William Bradley Swan (Kelly), Georgia Gayle Swan Mitchell (Scott), Victoria Lynn Swan Dowling (Danny), and Mallory Wren Swan; two sisters, Marsha Bond and Donna Moye; fourteen grandchildren, William Lawson Swan (Sarah), Casie Owens, Hannah Owens, Robert “Rob” Lynn Swan, III, Matthew Wayne Swan, Tristan Bradley Swan, Anne Marie Lawhorn, Jonathan Battle Swan, Alexandria Swan Mitchell, Annie Rebecca Swan, Samuel Scott Mitchell, Ashlyn Grace Dowling, Benjamin Daniel Mitchell and Robert Amz Dowling; three great-grandchildren, Gage Vela, Daisy Phillips and Tucker Swan; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary memorials may be made to Wrens Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 217, Wrens GA 30833 or Thomas Jefferson Academy, 2264 Hwy 1N, Louisville GA 30434.
The family will receive friends at Wrens Baptist Church Tuesday evening, May 20, 2014 from 6:00-9:00PM.

IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW By: Patsy Stambaugh Deskins
If you could see me now, you wouldn't shed a tear.
Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there.
Remember my spirit--that is the real me
because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free.
Oh, if you could only see!
I have beheld our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand.
All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land.
Beyond the gates of pearl, I've walked on the golden streets.
I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the Crystal sea.
The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare.
I've even seen your mansion and someday I'll meet you there.
Let Jesus be your guide because His Word will show you the way!
So, please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
