Macy Lynn Purvis Mullis
Adrian, GA – Macy Lynn Purvis Mullis, 23, loving wife of Tyler Miles Mullis, tragically lost her life in a horrific, senseless vehicular accident at the Taco Bell in Swainsboro on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, October 5, 2017 with Father Patrick Otor officiating. Interment will follow in the Reedy Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Born in Augusta, Macy grew up in Jefferson County, graduating from Jefferson County High School in 2012. She worked full time as a data collector for Crossmark, then in December, 2016 as a Corrections Officer for the Georgia State Prisons, while being enrolled at Swainsboro Tech working towards a criminal justice degree. A fashionista, Macy loved to shop and model clothes, both in the store and at home. Being very photogenic, there are many photos—and selfies—of her modeling clothes, being with family and friends, and just “doing life”. She could also be found reading a book, another pastime she enjoyed. She was always on the go and, being adventuresome, liked to travel, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. In recent years, she especially loved going on cruises with her husband.
Macy experienced great loss during her short time with us—especially hard was the death of her brother in 2004 and then the death of her precious baby, Bryson, in 2012. She kept her faith and leaned on the strength of her Savior. Through friends, she met the love of her life, marrying October 3, 2015. She had finally found the man of her dreams—one who provided her with love, security and happiness—and was totally in love and happy. Although Macy was raised Catholic, the couple attended Dellwood Baptist Church when their work schedules allowed.
Quick witted, she had a great sense of humor. People gravitated to Macy and her bubbly, outgoing personality—her beautiful smile would light up a room and her laugh would make your heart leap with joy. She absolutely loved with all of her heart and was especially close to her family. Macy had a special love for children and was in her element when playing with her godson, Jase. Her goals were to finish her degree and grow her family—she looked forward to being a mother. As beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, her loving, sweet, gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Death leaves a void that no one can fill; but love leaves memories that no one can steal. Macy’s memories live on forever in our hearts.
Macy is preceded in death by her precious son, Bryson Purvis-Vause; and her brother, Mark Purvis. Other survivors include her mother, Susan Prescott Purvis Kuehne (Charles); father, Marty Purvis (Jodie); parents-in-law, Jenny and Darrell Mullis; siblings, Breanna Purvis, Hawke Kuehne, Jeri Hanson (Seth), Michael Thomspon, Logan Peebles, Patrick Peters, Brooke Sheppard (Justin), Alyson Mullis and Chris Buckner; Godson, Jase Kersey; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Headrick, Trent Kersey, Timothy Rodriquez, Matt Surine, Tim Turner Jr. and Tim Turner Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Peebles and the Color Guard of the Georgia State Prison.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, October 4, 2017.
