Lynn Jay Schultz, 70, departed this life Tuesday evening, March 11, 2025 at his home in Thomson. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 in the Harmony Springs Mennonite Church.
Lynn was born to the late Frances Nichols Schultz and the late Jonas Schultz on November 8, 1954, in Fredonia, Kansas. At the age of 13, Lynn’s family moved to the Pinecrest Congregation in Georgia. Five years later, they relocated to Brazil, where he spent countless hours helping his father on the farm. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, in Rio Verde, Brazil, on April 28, 1974.
On November 16, 1975, Lynn married Kathy Miller, and together they had four children. He worked hard to provide for his family and built them a Southern-style colonial home. Lynn was a dedicated farmer, known for his straight rows and clean equipment. He was special to his nieces and nephews.
In 2010, he returned to Georgia, where he spent time raising sheep and restoring a number of old John Deere tractors. Due to the struggles that he faced through his life, his last years were spent alone. The past year he experienced declining health due to a stroke. He was thankful that the Lord allowed the stroke to bring about a change in his life. The family rests their hearts in an all-knowing God.
The family deeply appreciates the friendship and care that was shown by his neighbor, Josh, during his final months.
He leaves behind his family, Kathy Schultz, Dustin Schultz, Cherrie Schultz, Rick and Kim Schultz; son-in-law David and Joni Miller; 9 grandchildren; four brothers, Glenn and Charlotte, Virgil and Nelda, Paul and Carol, Stanley and Mary; three sisters, Deanna and Tim Burns, twin sister Linda and Daniel Holdeman, and Ruth and Rowland Loewen.
Lynn is also preceded in death by his daughter, Roxanne Miller.
