Linda “Bell” Chevelle Cheeks Cason

Mitchell, GA – Linda “Bell” Chevelle Cheeks Cason, 53, loving wife of the late Danny Wayne Cason, entered into her eternal rest Monday morning, June 11, 2018 at University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, June 15, 2018 with Rev. Ernest Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Born and raised in Jefferson County, Linda was one of five children of Linda Royal Cheeks and the late Frank Cheeks. She was lovingly known as Bell to her family and close friends. After attending school in Wrens, Bell was a seasonal worker for the area peanut and pecan houses. Marrying the love of her life in May of 2004, she suffered great loss when her husband passed after only a few years of marriage. Being very active and always on the go, Bell especially liked to go to the beach, the lake and mountains—she just liked being outside and loved the sun and water. In her quiet time, she could be found crocheting. Children gravitated to her, calling her “Mama Bell”. Not having any children of her own, Bell had a heart for all children, taking time to talk to them, play with them and ply them with candy. A loyal friend, Bell was good-hearted and generous to a fault, making sure others’ needs were met before her own. Above all else, she loved her family and was most content in their presence.

Other survivors include her four siblings, Rod Cheeks (Donna), C.C. Cheeks (Penny), Tammy Merritt (Jeff) and Lisa Hobbs (Lenny); her “adopted” son, Dylan Newsome; her fiancé, Doug Ballard; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Lenny Hobbs, Randall Hobbs, Trey Hobbs, Jeff Merritt, George Saxon Jr. and Joseph Saxon.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home Friday afternoon, June 15, 2018, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
