Lilawease "Wease" Williams Broxton

Avera, GA  –              Lilawease “Wease” Williams Broxton, 86, loving wife of the late Thomas Earl Broxton Sr., entered into her eternal rest Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2017, with Dr. Stan Littleton and Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta.

Born to the late Lena and Eschol Williams, Wease was a native of Hazelhurst where she graduated high school, met and married the love of her life, and lived until moving to Burke County in 1951 when her husband took over the family farm.  When her husband’s health decline in 1995, they moved to Avera to be closer to their son.  An industrious, hard-worker, Wease made her home a safe haven for her family and worked as a seamstress in several garment companies. She loved to sew, which she considered her “therapy”, as well as working in the yard and her flower and vegetable gardens—she had a green thumb and could grow anything. Being very active and having a strong-willed personality, Wease never gave up and had a “can do” attitude.  She was quick to share her opinions and you never had to guess or wonder how she felt about anything as she was a “say what you mean” type person.  Accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she served Him at Bottsford Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Waldens United Methodist Church in Avera, and Wrens United Methodist Church.  Wease’s greatest pleasure and joy was her family whom she loved unconditionally. Her death leaves a void that no one can fill, but her love leaves memories that no one can steal.

Wease was also preceded in death by her daughter, Earlena B. Wright; and five siblings, A. J. Williams, Mary Buford, H. L. Williams, Robert T. Williams and B. A. Williams. Survivors include her children, Peggy B. McLeRoy (Charles) and Tommy Broxton (Dawn); son-in-law, Dr. James Wright (Barbara); siblings, Jewell M. Williams and Virginia Brooke; six grandchildren, Patrick Broxton (Amy), Kristi Broxton (Brady Brassell), Tera Collins, Stephen Wright, Timothy Wright and Katie Wright; nine great grandchildren, Jason Williams, Barrett Usry, Briel Bussell, Ayden Broxton, Piper Broxton, Michael Collins, Haley Collins, Macie Brassell and Olivia Wright; one great-great grandson, Peyton Abrams; a host of nieces and nephews; and many “in-laws”, “out-laws” and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Hodge, Walker Lewis, Michael Reese, Brandon Walden, Keith Walden and Damon Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ayden Broxton, Barrett Usry and Jason Williams.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Wrens UMC Building Fund, 202 Russell Street, Wrens GA 30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017.

Legacy of Love
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
