Lessie Hobbs Huff Evans Lloyd
Stapleton, GA – Lessie Leigh Hobbs Huff Evans Lloyd, 94, loving wife of the late Adolphus “Doc” Huff and the late Rudolph Evans, entered into her eternal rest late Wednesday night, March 8, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2017, with Pastor Edward Carothers officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson County Memorial Gardens.
One of eight children born to the late Nealie May Harold Hobbs and the late James Furman Hobbs, Lessie was a native of Toombs County and had lived in Stapleton since 1940. She was a hard worker—helping on the farm, raising six children and working as a seamstress at Stapleton Garment Company, retiring with over 32 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and working in the yard. Her sassy, strong-willed, quick-witted personality combined with her loving, generous spirit, as well as her devotion and loyalty to her family and friends, made Lessie a unique, fun person to whom people naturally gravitated. She loved her Lord and Savior serving Him at Reedy Creek Baptist Church until her health declined several years ago. Her joy for life and for her Lord was infectious. Her death leaves a void that no one can fill, but her love leaves memories that no one can steal.
Lessie was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Usry; and all of her siblings, Nora Gay, Nellie Hinton, Dorsey Hobbs, Dock Hobbs, Dan Hobbs, Grover Hobbs and Thomas “Red” Hobbs. Survivors include her children, Susie Usry (Isaac), Bonnie Stokes of Virginia Beach VA, Franklin Huff (Betty) of Hampton VA, Billy Huff (Gloria) of Hampton VA, Jessie Huff (Sheila) of North Augusta SC, and Larry Huff of Martinez; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Castner, Smitty Dixon, Jason Huff, Jimmy Huff, L. J. Huff and Ryan Huff.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2017, prior to the funeral services.
