Kevin Edward Prescott
Stapleton, GA – Kevin Edward Prescott, 51, loving husband to Leigh Anne Williams Prescott, entered into his eternal rest early Saturday morning, June 27, 2020 at his residence, after losing his battle to pancreatic cancer. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with speaker Gary Hutchins and Rev. Ronnie Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, June 30th at James Funeral Home.
Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is encouraged.
A life-long resident of Stapleton, Kevin was born to Norma Faith Clark Prescott and the late George Elliott Prescott Sr. and was 1987 graduate of Thomas Jefferson Academy. After working for Forestman and Thomson Tools, he began working for Thiele Kaolin in 1990 where he progressed through the plant to eventually become a lab technician. Accepting Jesus as a young man, he was Baptist by faith but attended Wrens United Methodist Church. Being very civic and community minded, he served on the city council, was pro tempore mayor and was also involved with the Stapleton Fire Department. Kevin loved being outdoors, hunting fishing, riding dirt roads, grocery shopping and cooking—just like his Daddy. He loved to make people laugh and had a great sense of humor, and was able to do this while being a hard worker and respected by all. Kevin was a happy person, satisfied with his life and made the best life possible for his family. He was a loyal friend and dedicated husband, Daddy and Papa. Kevin loved his family beyond measure—they filled his heart with much joy. His death has left a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Others left to cherish his memory include his children, Courtney Prescott (Jeremy McKinnie) and Justin Prescott (Nicole); two brothers, Clay Prescott and George Prescott Jr. (Elaine); three grandchildren, Gage McKinnie, Haley Rae Prescott and Maddie Lynn Prescott; nieces, nephews, the Prescott clan, and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be D.D. Bailey, Michael Talkington, Jeff Kent, Derek Wood, Josh Harrell and Tim Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Lamar Williams, Todd James, Anthony Lamb, Dustin Usry, and Shawn Johnson.
