Kenneth Norton Kitchens,80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, has peacefully entered into his eternity on March 6th, 2024, at the Piedmont Augusta Hospital. The family will greet friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00-2:30PM Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2024 followed by funeral services to celebrate his life at 2:30PM in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on October 26th, 1943, Kenneth was the only child of the late Agnes Newsome Kitchens and the late Jack Kitchens. He spent his formative years in the Warren and the Glascock county areas before eventually making Jefferson County his home.
Kenneth was a man of many talents and a well-known figure in the community. He gained recognition as the "long-winded" auctioneer who owned KK Auction Sales and KK Auto Salvage. Renowned for being a people person, he never met a stranger and had a knack for captivating audiences with his exceptional storytelling skills. His strong-willed nature was admired by all who knew him.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Kenneth enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He found solace in fishing, particularly indulging in some "piddling" activities, especially when it involved tractors. An avid lover of antiques of all kinds, Kenneth had a keen eye for beauty in the old and treasured pieces that held stories of their own. However, nothing brought him greater joy than savoring a good home-cooked meal, with barbecue chicken ranking as his ultimate favorite.
Kenneth leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Emma Luvenia Arrington Kitchens; his children, Wayne Kitchens (Cathy), Jeff Kitchens, and Gerald Kitchens (Kay); grandchildren, Joe Kitchens (Sarah), Ken Kitchens (Samantha), Sara Annis, and Robert Annis; great-grandchildren that held a special place in his heart, Lane Allen Kitchens, Lakelan Max Kitchens, and Emma Ranee Annis; in addition to other extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Chris Davis, Will Hadden, Cheyenne Schmidt, Steven Usry, Cam Wade and Jason Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Beckworth and Thomas Beckworth.
Kenneth’s presence will be dearly missed but his essence will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
