Katherine “Katie” Lou Joiner
Wrens, GA – Katherine “Katie” Lou Wilson Joiner, 81, loving wife to the late Odell Joiner, peacefully entered into her eternal rest early Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022 at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday afternoon, October 11, 2022, with Reverend Randy Walden officiating. Interment will follow in the Parker United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bartow GA.
One of three children born to the late Katherine Padgett Wilson and the late James Wilson, Katie was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County (mainly in Wrens and Louisville) until her move five years ago to Keysville to become a resident of Keysville Nursing Home. After graduating high school, she worked as a seamstress for Stapleton Garment Co., J.P. Stevens, and Delilah Manufacturing. Her first priority, however, was her family. Being an immaculate housekeeper and great cook, she made sure they had a clean, comfortable home and were well-fed. Because of her love for children, Katie was a popular baby sitter and had a great impact on many young ones in the area. She also had a great love for animals, especially cats and birds. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to movies and watching soap operas. She could be found working on puzzles—crossword, jigsaw, word find, etc. She was also a huge Braves fan and watched or listened to the games every chance she could. Katie became more sociable in her later years, loving to talk to old friends and making new friends alike. She kept a positive attitude and would often say “tomorrow is going to be a little bit better” in hopes of uplifting others. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age, attending Stapleton United Methodist Church, and later Wrens United Methodist Church, as well as the Church of Christ in Louisville. Katie will be greatly missed by her family and friends but especially her Keysville Nursing Home family who she grew to love immensely.
Katie is also preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Barlow; and brother, Arthur Wilson. Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Randy Joiner (Nancy) of Augusta; brothers, Larry Wilson and James Kenny; granddaughters, Mandy Ann Barlow and Alexis Barlow; two great grandchildren, Hunter Magner and Savannah Magner; other extended family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Barlow, Jay Becker, Clayton Mosley, Kodey Mosley, Billy Treadwell and Jacob Wilson.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Dr, Evans GA 30809 or online at alz.org.
