Katherine Patricia Arrington Taylor
Augusta, GA – Katherine “Kay” Patricia Arrington Taylor, 68, loving wife of Fred G. Taylor, Jr., went to meet her heavenly father Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M on Saturday, February 23, 2019 with Rev. Ricky Downs officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Kay was born and raised in Keysville. She attended Wrens High School before moving to South Carolina at the age of 17 where she grew her family. Kay worked in cafeteria services for Owens Corning in Aiken after which she worked as a Detention Officer for Aiken County Detention Center for 10 years, leaving this position in 2001 due to her health decline. Kay moved back to Georgia upon meeting and marrying Fred. While attending a service in which her son, David, was preaching, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. After raising her boys, one of her greatest accomplishments was being able to go back to school to obtain her high school diploma. Because of her health issues, her favorite pastime was fishing where she could enjoy the outdoors, relax and find some comfort and peace. Described as a “fireball”, Kay was very vocal and was a “straight-shooter”—if she thought it, she said it; so you always knew where you stood with her. Having a fun-loving spirit, she was always up-beat and tried to make lemonade out of her lemons. Her greatest treasure and first priority were her three boys and her family—her grandchildren were her heart. Kay was greatly loved by all her family and will be deeply missed.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes Charry Arrington and Obed W. Arrington, Jr.; and grandson, Michael Brown. Other survivors include her sons, Mack Brooks Jr. (Darlene) and David Brooks (Teresa); grandchildren, Jessica Andrews (Michael), Alyssa Brooks (Nate Smith), and Summer Brooks; great grandchildren, Emma Andrews, Keaton Andrews, Paisely Smith and Carter Smith; siblings, William “Buddy” O. Arrington (Jackie), Lydia Newsome (Douglas), Edith “Edie” Mauney, Wesley Arrington (Cheryl) and Tony Arrington; four step-children, Lisa Whitaker, Angie Jewell, Jackie Lienen and Tyler Taylor; many nieces, nephews and friends.
