Julie Lynn Holshouser Southerland

Waynesboro, GA –     Julie Lynn Holshouser Southerland, 49, loving wife of 28 years to Christopher “Matthew” Southerland, entered into her eternal rest early Saturday morning, July 30, 2022 at her residence. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning, August 6, 2022 at South Augusta Church of Christ with Rev. Kenny Chavous officiating.  Interment beside her beloved daughter will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday morning—from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.

Her father being in the Army, Julie was born at Ft. Gordon, after which they were sent to Germany, then to El Paso TX, before coming back to Augusta where she was a 1992 graduate of Glenn Hills High School.  This is where she met the love of her life in 1990, marrying him in 1994 and making their home in Burke County for the last 23 years. Julie had a tender heart, was very compassionate and loved helping others.  It was befitting that she worked in different capacities in the medical field in Waynesboro and Augusta.  She had a fun-loving outlook on life, had an outgoing personality, and loved people.  She loved going to the lake and the beach but was most content at home surrounded by her family. A past member of Hopeful Baptist Church, Julie was baptized at and a member of South Augusta Church of Christ.  Julie loved her Lord and Savior, and, wanting to grow in her faith, could be found reading and studying her Bible and other Bible study materials.  Above all else, she loved her family and made them her first priority.  This loving, supportive wife, devoted daughter, mother and grandmother, and loyal friend will be greatly missed.  Julie’s passing has left a void that cannot be filled, but her love and memories will forever live on in our hearts.  We are thankful that, having a new body, she in no longer in pain and is in her forever Heavenly home.

Julie is preceded in death by her daughter, Brittany Holshouser.  Others left to cherish her memories include her sons, Christopher Southerland (Dosun) and Spencer Myles Southerland (Valarie); parents, Renate Schuppert Holshouser and Gerald W. Holshouser (Angela); two grandsons, Noah and Luke Southerland; three siblings, Dennis Holshouser, Jessica Murphey (Scott), and Dale Holshouser; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
