Julian Hubert Arrington
Matthews, GA – Julian Hubert Arrington, 72, loving husband of 43 years to Paulette Virginia Parrish Arrington, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, July 17, 2018 at Augusta University. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2018 with Reverend Jason Owens and Rusty Arrington officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Church of God Cemetery in Matthews.
One of seven children born to the late Sallie Mae Whited Arrington and the late William Robert Arrington, Julian was a lifelong resident of Matthews where he attended school before attending high school in Wrens. Quitting high school to help support his family, he worked in his brother-in-law’s logging business and did some construction work before going to work at GA-TN Mining Company, a division of Hartz Mountain, where he retired as a heavy machine operator with 40 years of service. Julian loved his Lord and Savior, actively serving him at the Wrens Church of God until his health declined. Julian had a passion for the elderly and the young; and tolerated those in the “in-between” years. He was active with the church’s Boys Club and was a coach for the Dixie Youth Little League. In his younger years, he like to dance, especially the jitterbug. Julian also enjoyed being outside—mowing his own grass, his neighbor’s grass or the church cemetery; working with his horses and chickens; and going deer hunting. He loved his old Chevy truck—it “fit” him well. Described as a good-hearted, grumpy person, Julian was a loyal friend who helped those in need in anyway he could. A serious-minded, solemn man of few words, he said what he meant and meant what he said. He was known for his honesty and work ethic. The most important aspect of his life was his family whom he loved unconditionally—his grandchildren captured his heart. Julian was most content being at home surrounded by his family. His death leaves a void that no one can fill; but his love leaves us memories that no one can steal.
Julian is also preceded in death by his twin brother, Judson Arrington; and sister, Frances Arrington. Other survivors include his sons, Jamie Arrington and B.J. Arrington (Lesley); three grandchildren, Camden Arrington, Gracie Arrington and Kiley Arrington; four sisters, Carol Rooks, Wilma Hadden, Barbara Durden and Joyce Kelley (Tony); nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family. Serving as pallbearers will be Camden Arrington, W.G. Bartlett, Stacey Dill, Brian Dowdy, Clay Evans, Frankie Parrish, Jason Parrish and Matt Prickett. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, cousins and church family.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday evening, July 20, 2018.
