Joseph Upton Cochran Jr.
Keysville, GA – Joseph Upton Cochran Jr., 67, peacefully entered into his eternal rest Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Pruitt Health-Bethany Nursing Home in Millen. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2022 in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ed Chance officiating.
Born at NAS Whiting Field Navy Base in Milton FL, Joey grew up in Keysville and attended the Hephzibah schools, where his late Uncle Hubert Padgett and late maternal grandmother Beatrice Padgett were teachers. After graduating in 1973, he attended Toccoa Falls College where he earned an Associates Degree. Joey worked in various industries and after retiring due to a medical condition, became the caregiver for his parents. When he wasn’t watching the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, or the Georgia Bulldogs, he could usually be found somewhere along the banks of Brier Creek, where he spent many hours in his youth. He was also a Civil War buff and spent many hours researching and reading about the various battles of that conflict. This icon of Keysville will be greatly missed.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Upton Cochran Sr. and Hassie Padgett Cochran. Those left to cherish his memories include his brother, G. Scott Cochran (Sylvia); two nephews, Jason Cochran (Erin) and Scott Cobio (Sadie); niece, Lesley Arrington (BJ); several great nephews and great nieces; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, Joey requested that memorial donations be made to the Keysville United Methodist Church, c/o Pat Carter, 177 Twin Pine Road, Keysville GA 30816.
