John Charles “J.C.” James
Martinez, GA – John Charles “J.C.” James, 79, loving husband of 59 yrs to Lois Perdue James, entered into rest Friday morning, November 15, 2013 at The Place At Martinez. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Terry Doss and Chuck Ikerd officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
One of four children born to the late Beulah Guy James and the late Richard Johnny James, he grew up in Jefferson County where he was known as “J.C.” and was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. His father was in residential construction and he possessed the same natural abilities; however he went into commercial construction which took him—now “John”—to different parts of Georgia—Jekyll Island, Jonesboro, Loganville and, finally Martinez, where he retired from M.B. Kahn Construction, formerly A. L. Adams Construction. John was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. His main pastime was his “building projects” but he was also a big sports fan, especially NASCAR. His favorite place to vacation was going to the mountains, especially Pigeon Forge. He loved his truck and just liked to ride in the country, often visiting his family in Wrens. John always started his day by getting up really early, making his coffee and reading the morning newspaper—he savored his “morning time”. This quiet, giant of a man was the epitome of honesty, integrity—his word was his bond—and determination. His love for his family knew no bounds and he was most content in their presence. J. C. is now having a grand reunion in his eternal home where death is no more.
J. C. is also preceded in death by his son, Bruce Allen James; and his brother, Curtis R. James. Other survivors include his son, Johnny C. James (Beverly); a brother, Ricky W. James; a sister, Betty J. Sheppard; two grandchildren, Kyle Matthew James and Kimberly Manahan (Chris); one great grandson, Atticus Manahan; many nieces, nephews, “in-laws” and friends. Pallbearers will be his nephews—Blake James, Brandon James, Nathan James, Raymond James, Todd James, Jason Sheppard, Greg Holley and Mike Holley. His nephews, Edward James and Tyler James, will be handling the services.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM on Saturday, November 16, 2013.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of The Place At Martinez for their professional and loving care.

The Day God Called You Home
God looked at His garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon His earth and saw your loving face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain;
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult so He closed your tired eyes,
And whispered to you "Peace be thine" and gave you wings to fly.
When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide.
You live on through your children, you're always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.
