He is the grandfather of Nathan Chance, Rachel Chance (Joe Spivey), Blythe Rodgers, Luke Rodgers, Bethany Rodgers, Rebekah Chance, Caleb Newman, Jacob Newman, Lydia Newman, Bree Walden and Treb Walden.  He is the great-grandfather to Ava Rae Neal.

Serving as pallbearers will be his lifelong friends—Jeb Barrow, David Bryant, Sam Pennington, Alan Rabun, Charles Stewart and Ronnie Templeton.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.

Joe would urge anyone reading this to accept, love, and serve the Lord our God.
