Jerry Clyde Holley

June 16, 1950 — February 10, 2025

Appling, GA

Jerry Clyde Holley, 74, of 4138 Old Lincolnton Road in Appling (Leah), Georgia, went home to be with the Lord early Monday, February 10, 2025. To honor and celebrate his life, graveside services will be held at 2:00P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Jerry was born June 16, 1950, in the Harrisburg mill village of Augusta to Earnest Ray Holley of Matthews and Mary Imogene Singley of Waynesboro. He learned billiards and jumped the trampoline at the Augusta Boys Club supervised by Mr. Cooper and Mr. Stopplebein. He played at Allen Park overseen by Mr. Kermit Radford and played Little League baseball coached by Mr. Jack Fountain. As a child, Jerry and his brothers had excellent mentors. 

 He attended John Milledge Elementary School and Tubman Junior High when Dr. Shealy was principal. The family moved to Casa Linda subdivision in Martinez where he attended Tubman Junior High and Evans High School. Jerry made many friends. 

 Jerry loved to both hunt and fish. His favorite part of catfishing was grabbing mud-puppies at old church baptismal pools and setting night hooks in Brier Creek. He was part of the CB radio craze with the handle, “Dynamite”. He was a proud and active member of Camp 91, Thomson Guards, Sons of Confederate Veterans. 

 As a child, Jerry was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where Rev. Robert C. Daniel brought him to the Lord. He was very active in the Royal Ambassadors. Jerry later attended Pine View Baptist Church in Martinez and was a founding member of Martinez Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Grover Lee. 

 Jerry was a heating and air conditioning installation technician. He was trained by his neighbor Mr. Bill Burns, owner of Martinez Heating and Air, but finished his career at Sig Cox of Augusta.

 Jerry leaves behind a sister Peggy Ann Salter (Buck) of Evans; brother Thomas Earl Holley (Karen) of Thomson; sister-in-law, Becky Holley Hanchey; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his mother and father as well his brother, Douglas Ray Holley.
