Jennifer “Jenny” Blanche Lamb Smith, 59, died peacefully at her home and transitioned into eternity Friday evening, January 12, 2024. A visitation to honor Jennifer's life in remembrance and support will take place from 4:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at James Funeral Home.
Born on July 1, 1964, to the late Julia Frances McBryde Lamb and the late William Thomas Lamb, Jenny was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and the Wrens community.
Jenny's exceptional work ethic and sharp mind for business were evident throughout her life. Her educational journey was marked by accomplishment and determination. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson Academy in 1982 before obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Augusta College in 1987. While pursuing her education, she diligently contributed to various aspects of the Lamb family businesses. After graduating from college, she assumed the presidency of W. T. Lamb Investments. Jenny's industrious nature and dedication to her work were unparalleled. Even during her final days, she worked tirelessly from home to ensure the ongoing success of the business and to ensure that everything was handled accurately and promptly.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jenny had many passions that brought joy and fulfillment to her life. She had an innate talent for gardening, both nurturing flora and tending to her vegetable garden. Her green thumb was admired by all who witnessed the beauty she created. A lover of animals in every form, Jenny cared deeply for dogs, cats, horses, chickens, peacocks—the list goes on. Before starting her own family, she would ride her horses daily and cherished every moment spent with them. Of all creatures, Jenny held a special place in her heart for her dogs and would often take them along on her rides through the property during peaceful evenings. She found solace in nature and held a deep appreciation for its wonders. Other than her home, Jekyll Island remained Jenny's favorite place on Earth—a sanctuary where she felt true peace and contentment.
While she was known for her boundless compassion and generosity towards others, Jenny always preferred to remain humble and private. Devoted to spending quality time with her family and friends at home or on Jekyll Island, she found the most fulfillment in these intimate moments. Jenny was fiercely family-oriented, and her grandchildren filled her heart with joy and love beyond words.
Jenny leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion to those she held dear. She is survived by her loving husband, David Hugh Smith; children, Leslie Lynam, Lauren Lynam Stewart (Chris), Thomas Lynam, Eric Smith (Meg), and Steffen Smith; her sisters, Lynn Reeves (Mac), Gale Thompson (Burney), and Judy Lamb; four cherished grandchildren, Caroline Stewart, Catherine Stewart, Corbin Stewart, and Virginia Smith, extended family, work family and numerous friends.
Jenny will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and her departure from this world has left an indelible void that will never be filled.
