Jacqueline “Jackie” Carol Cartwright Hattaway
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Jacqueline “Jackie” Carol Cartwright Hattaway, 71, loving wife of 26 years to Barry Hensley Hattaway, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Monday morning, December 26, 2022 at her residence. Services to celebrate her life will be held at Blythe Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, December 31, 2022 with Rev. Brian O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
One of four children born to the late Elizabeth Frances Oliver Cartwright and the late Horace Alton Cartwright, Jackie was a native of Battle Creek MI, but because of her father’s career in the military, the family moved often and lived at military bases all over the US. After graduating high school, Jackie went into the hospitality business working her way up to manager in the hotel/motel business. Her job brought her to Augusta GA in 1995 where she met the love of her life and, after a whirl-wind romance, married in May 1996. They moved from the Augusta area to Zebulon NC in November 1999 and from there to Sneads Ferry in 2016. Jackie loved to fish and most all outdoor activities—going to parks, boat rides, picnics on the lake, trips to the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina. During her alone time, she enjoyed crafting in her room and baking cupcakes and making candy for her family and friends. In the last few years, she especially enjoyed riding along the ocean watching the sunset over the intercoastal waterway in the marsh land, with an occasional boat ride and fishing trip. While living in Harlem GA, she attended Harlem Methodist Church, and then while in Blythe, the Blythe Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the Circle of Friends Bible Study Group. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family—their time at Disney World was a great source of job to her—and her grandchildren totally captured her heart. We rejoice that Jackie has a new, pain-free body and is now experiencing true peace, job and love in her eternal home.
Others left to cherish her memories include her two children, Joshua Allan Baldwin (Tonya) and Stephanie Lyn Morris (Mark); four grandchildren, Josalyn Diane Baldwin, Addysen Danielle Baldwin, Nathan Allan Morris and Hailee Nicolle Morris; three siblings, Bettyann McClintock of Augusta GA, Sandy Cartwright of Spring Lake NC, and Horace Cartwright II of Spring Lake NC; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Benjamin Chancey, Brett Chancey, Ethan Chancey, Nick DeLaigle, Frank Koger and Scott McClintock.
The family strongly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Jackie’s favorite charity—St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate or you can donate below on this website.
The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
