Jack Rufus Johnson
Keysville, GA – Jack Rufus Johnson, 81, loving husband to the late Frances Clark Johnson and the late Stella Johnson, entered into eternal rest Sunday morning, July 19, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home chapel at 1:00PM Thursday, July 23, 2015 with Rev. Jason Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
One of eight children born to the late Fannie Mae Johnson and the late Rufus Samuel Johnson, Jack was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County except for the eight years spent serving our country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was mechanically inclined and could repair anything, but specialized in transmissions—he owned AAMCO Transmissions for many years and, after selling the company, worked from his home. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash, fishing, crabbing and everything that involved his family—the family spent lots of time on the coast making great memories. Jack had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around, making people laugh—he wanted everyone to be happy. He had a servant’s heart and was very sensitive to others’ needs, doing anything he could to help everyone. His greatest love was for his family and found his greatest pleasure in life being with them. Jack was a devoted and dedicated husband who was a loving care-giver for Frances during her illness. Always having a positive, “can-do” attitude, he was relentless in every endeavor. Jack was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Jack is also preceded in death by son Steve Fredericks; and siblings, David Johnson, Judson Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and Jeannette Skinner.
