Harold L. Snipes
Gibson, GA – Harold L. Snipes, 65, loving husband of Veronica “Ronnie” Opsal Snipes, entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, April 1, 2016 at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born and raised in Aiken County, Harold was a member of New Holland First Baptist Church and was a welder/fabricator at Hathaway Corporation in Augusta for 15 years before being injured on the job. He loved to fish, especially for catfish, and NASCAR racing—his favorite driver being Kyle Bush # 18. He liked to “dress up” in his starched jeans—so starched they would stand up by themselves!—and his cowboy boots. Harold was a cantankerous fellow who liked to cut up with family and friends—you knew he liked you if he picked at you. Moving to Gibson in 2014 to be closer to his sons, Harold absolutely loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and, of course, his canine buddy Dexter. A loyal friend and dedicated husband and father, Harold leaves a void that no one can fill but his memories will remain ever more in our hearts.
Harold is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Betty Louise Snipes Drawdy and Eugene Drawdy; and his brother, James Drawdy. Other survivors include his two sons, Michael Snipes and Bryan Snipes (Anna); three siblings, Willie Drawdy (Stephanie), Diane Yenny and Hank Drawdy; six grandchildren, Seth Snipes, Blake Snipes, Kearstyn Snipes, Ashton Tiner, Abbie Tiner and Anderson Tiner; his two “adopted” grandchildren, Justin Rodgers and Carson Rodgers; his canine buddy, Dexter; and many friends.
