Harlin “Shorty” Martin
Evans, GA – Harlin “Shorty” Martin, 87, loving husband to the late Mary Brooks Martin, entered into rest peacefully Monday morning, April 22, 2013, at Doctors Hospital. Graveside services will be held at Wrens Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 3:00PM with Rev. Bobby Atkinson officiating.
Shorty was one of nine children born to the late Leila Waldon and Thomas J. Martin in Tuscaloosa AL. He lived in many areas in the southeast settling in Wrens as a farmer. Shorty loved to tinker and fix things—even if it was not broken. Being an entertainer at heart, he enjoyed sharing his vast life experiences and telling his “stories”. He was always generous with his time and helping others—always a dedicated friend. Shorty’s greatest joy was his family—his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His lively spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Juttie Ann Littlepage; and seven of his siblings, Thelma Christian, T.J. Martin Jr., Ruby Appling, Dorothy McFerrin, Jean Reviral,Fred Martin and Marlin Martin. After Glow
I’d like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow
Of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and summer days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.
