Grady Saxon Templeton
Wrens, GA – Grady Saxon Templeton, 83, loving husband of 59 years to Patricia Anne Peebles Templeton, peacefully entered into his eternal rest Monday afternoon, October 17, 2022 at Jefferson Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Shane Busby officiating.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Grady quit high school at the age of 17 to join the Marine Corp. During his time in the Marines, he completed his education and was trained to be an Amtrack mechanic. Upon returning home, he worked for Wren Chevrolet, Buck Sheppard, and JP Stevens in Louisville before starting his career with JM Huber, retiring with 27 years of service as Shift Supervisor. Grady was a hard, industrious worker and liked staying busy. He loved working with wood and doing crafts, building bird houses, play houses, butterflies, etc. After retiring, he repaired lawnmowers to keep him busy and take in a little extra money. To relax, he completed Word Search puzzles. An avid reader, his house is filled with book and guideposts. His favorite book was his Bible which he read incessantly. Grady’s soft-spoken voice belied an unassuming, steadfast personality. He was a reliable friend and was always available in time of need. It is hard to go through life without anyone having anything bad to say about you…but that was Grady. Above all else, Grady loved and put his family first—the grands stole his heart and brought him much joy. Even though he suffered through many health issues, he was not one to complain but looked to his Lord and Savior for his sustenance. We now have the assurance that Grady has a new, pain-free body and is reaping his Heavenly rewards with Jesus.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Elizabeth Langham Templeton Ricketts and Joseph Templeton; grandson, Brandon Fullwood; and sister, Linda Rogers. Others left to cherish his memories include his Michael Templeton (Paula), Angela Scott and Mary Cunningham; nine grandchildren, Jason Templeton, Eric Templeton, Amie Kelley (Chris), Jessica Anderson (Stephen), Jr Fullwood, Raquel Harris (Sterling), Shantel Cunningham, Dominique Cunningham and Brianna Combs (Nicci); eighteen (18) great grandchildren; four siblings, Jack Templeton, Judy McMurrain, Lynnette Brooks and Linda Fabiano; nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Bobby Braswell and David Smith for their close friendship and support over the years.
