Geraldine Kelly Jenkins
Wrens, GA – Geraldine Kelly Jenkins, 78, loving wife of the late Leon Jenkins, entered into her eternal rest Saturday night, June 18, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday afternoon, June 21, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ed Chance officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Geraldine was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, where she married and raised her own family as well. Her day included cooking for her family—she and Bryant shared many meals together—and watching her favorite soaps. Callie, her canine friend, filled her days with pleasure and joy. A strong-willed person, Geraldine had a generous, loving nature. Most of all, Geraldine loved to worship her Lord and Savior at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church in Augusta and when her health declined, she would listen to sermons on tape. Her life’s journey was difficult at best but her faith sustained her through all of her trials and tribulations. She is now praising our Redeemer in Heaven where there are no tears or heartaches.
Geraldine is also preceded in death by her son, Wade Jenkins; her mother, Sara Kelly; and her brother, Jimmy Kelly. Survivors include her children, Gloria Guy, Kenny L. Jenkins (Michelle), Patricia Jenkins Unruh, Pam Inglett, Brenda Jenkins and Bryant Jenkins; sister-in-law, Iris Kelly; fifteen grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Albea, Jonathan Guy, Dewey Howell III, Adam Inglett, Shane Jenkins, John King, George Sims and Alvin Unruh.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home prior to the funeral services--from 1:00-2:30 P.M., Tuesday afternoon, June 21, 2016.
