Floy Hadden Crawford, 88, loving wife of the late Harvey Lanier Crawford, entered into her eternal rest Monday evening, May 1, 2023 at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023, with Rev. Mark Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
One of two daughters born to the late Mary Ruth Phillips Hadden and the late Louie Hadden, Floy grew up in Glascock/Jefferson County—physically living in Glascock County but having a Stapleton address! After graduating from Stapleton High School, she worked at Lily Tulip. Floy met the love of her life on a blind date and, after a whirlwind romance, they married in 1958 and started their family while living in Augusta. The family moved back to the homeplace in the early 1960s. Being family oriented, Floy’s focus was her family and making their home a loving, God-fearing, safe environment. She was known for her biscuits which she lovingly made every day for her family. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard and, in her younger years, she always had a vegetable garden which helped feed her family. Floy was also an avid reader until her eyesight failed—again, in her younger days, she anxiously looked for the bookmobile to get new books in exchange for the ones she had previously read. A happy, content person, Floy had a beautiful smile that she shared with everyone she saw. Having accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age, she was a lifelong member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church where she faithfully attended until her health decline. Once she could no longer maintain her home, she moved into Silver Linings Personal Care Home where she made many friends. Floy was a quiet, unassuming lady with a great love, not only for her family and friends, but for all God’s people. She will be missed tremendously but we know through His promises that she has now seen Jesus, her Savior, and is living in her eternal home in Heaven. Til we meet again….
Floy was also preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Smith; grandson, Brandon Prescott; and sister, Betty Jackson. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Jane Prescott (Robbie) and Nancy Norman (Alan); two grandchildren, Ashley Wheeler (J.D.) and Shelby Todd (Jeremy); five grandchildren, Claire Wheeler, Vivian Wheeler, Isabella Todd, Lily Todd and River Todd; other extended family, church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, Wayne Davis, Wayne Davis Jr., Mike Peebles, Dennis Robinson and Lamar Williams.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Silver Linings Personal Care Home or their loving, compassionate, and professional care.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service at James Funeral Home from 11:30 – 1:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2023.
