Faye Kitchens McNair
Stapleton, GA – Faye Kitchens McNair, 89, entered into the land of light and joy late Saturday night, December 29, 2018, at Arbor Terrace of Athens. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Wrens Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
One of five children born to the late Nettie Rae Jenkins Kitchens and the late Cyrus White Kitchens, Jr., Miss Faye lived in Jefferson County all of her life and was a graduate of Wrens High School, after which she attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville.
Soon after the end of the Second World War, Miss Faye met and fell in love with Samuel Weldon McNair from Stapleton. The couple married on September 18, 1947, raised four children, and remained in the McNair family home for the rest of their lives together. Miss Faye was well known in the community for her work with the church, Girls in Action (“G.A.s”), the church choir, the post office, managing the family farms, and as an occasional substitute teacher.
Miss Faye is preceded in death by her husband, and two of her siblings, Cyrus White Kitchens III and Ann K. Lewis. She is survived by her four children, Dolly Faye McNair Pennington (Sam), Marilyn Rose McNair, Evelyn Raye McNair and Samuel Cyrus Smith McNair (Emily); two sisters, Carolyn Cox and Marian Evans; five grandchildren, Caroline Pennington Sparks (Wesley), Andrew McNair Pennington, Samuel Luke Rabun (Katy), Eliza Denton McNair and Daniel Henry McNair; one great grandson, Beau Weldon Rabun; many nieces and nephews, and so many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Adams, Jason Dixon, Adam Howard, Charles Milburn, Johnny Rabun and Burney Thompson.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday evening, January 4, 2019 at the McNair family home located at 155 Ivey Street, Stapleton, GA.
