Ella “Jean” Pratt Wade
Wrens, GA – Ella “Jean” Pratt Wade, 90, loving wife of the late Crawford Augustus Wade, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Thursday morning, June 9, 2022 at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday morning, June 13, 2022 in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Dixon officiating.
Jean was born and raised in Whitesburg KY. After graduating high school, she moved to Miami to live with her mother and grandmother. It was there she met the love of her life while he was serving our country in the Navy. They married and started their family, and in 1960 made the move to Wrens to be near his family. Jean loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family—she made their home a safe haven from the care of the world. She found great enjoyment cooking and especially enjoyed preparing holiday feasts for the entire family. In her younger years, she loved to dance but she was known for her immaculate yard and flowers—she would often be working in her yard as early as 5:00 A.M. and staying at it “til the job was done”. An industrious hard-worker, Jean did take time out for her favorite pastime—shopping. She absolutely loved going to the mall, her favorite being the old Regency Mall. Jean has been described as being very determined, independent, feisty, and loving people but needing personal, alone-time. She accepted the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and served her Lord and Savior at Wrens Baptist Church until her health decline. For many years she has been a resident of Gibson Health & Rehab where she enjoyed Bingo and Bible Study. Jean’s life on earth is over: she is missed but we take solace knowing that she lives on in our hearts and for eternity in her Heavenly home.
Jean is also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Hickman; granddaughter, Cindy Cox; and parents, Matilda "Tillie" Pratt Johnson and Ernest Pratt. Those left to cherish her memories include her three daughters, Linda Bailey (John), Patty Adams (David) and Lisa Williams (Charles); eleven (11) grandchildren; twenty-one (21) great grandchildren; her “Gibson” family; other extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their heart-felt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center for their professional, caring, and loving devotion.
